Effective November 30, Patrick Grismer will take on the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer role at Starbucks, succeeding Scott Maw. In his new role, Grismer will report to Kevin Johnson, Starbucks’ President and Chief Executive Officer. After the transition, Maw will remain a senior consultant through March of next year.
Grismer will join the company, officially, on November 12, and he is bringing extensive finance executive experience with leadership skills at global, consumer-facing growth companies. He spent 25 years combined at Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Yum! Brands, and the Walt Disney Company. Grismer’s most recent role was that of CFO for Hyatt, where he joined in March of 2016. There, he was responsible for all facets of the global finance function, corporate strategy, asset management, construction, procurement, and shared services, according to a press release.
“As a seasoned CFO of multiple global, consumer-facing growth companies, Pat brings tremendous finance expertise, a customer-centric mindset and a wealth of restaurant industry experience to Starbucks,” said Kevin Johnson, Starbucks President and Chief Executive Officer. “Pat will be a fantastic addition to the team, and I look forward to partnering with him as we continue to execute against our strategic priorities and drive strong financial performance.”
Grismer also held leadership roles at Yum! Brands for more than 14 years, including CFO, and he held various finance and strategy positions at The Walt Disney Company for more than 10 years, such as VP of Business Planning and Development for The Disneyland Resort. Grismer’s career began as a management consultant with Price Waterhouse.
“I am very excited to join Starbucks and feel privileged to be part of the team responsible for leading this iconic, global company. I have always admired the Starbucks brand and values, and I look forward to working with Kevin and the leadership team to help lead the company into its next phase of growth,” said Grismer.
Grismer’s career has been powered by his extensive academic experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellog Graduate School of Management, and he became a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California.
Congratulations to Starbucks on this exciting addition to your executive team.
