Aldi continues to eye westward growth, now announcing that it has promoted its Vice President of the Saxonburg division, Brent Laubaugh, as Co-President of Aldi US.
"ALDI has a different style when it comes to grocery shopping and that differentiation has helped make us one of the fastest growing retailers in the U.S.," said Aldi CEO Jason Hart, who all co-presidents will report to, in a press release.
Laubaugh joins current Co-Presidents David Behm and Chuck Youngstrom, making for three executives sharing the role.
"To support our significant expansion, it was important that we strengthen our leadership team to ensure our success,” Hart added. “With the addition of Brent to our team, we have the right leaders in place to continue growing the Aldi business."
As we previously reported, the retailer kicks off its series of West Coast openings at the end of this month, the same time that Laubaugh’s promotion goes into effect on March 28, 2016.
An Aldi veteran of 20 years, Laubaugh has held a variety of roles as he has moved upwards in leadership, according to the retailer.
Currently, Aldi plans to invest more than $3 billion in land, facilities, and equipment over the next few years, as well as create 10,000 new jobs as it seeks to have nearly 2,000 U.S. stores in just five years.
