A&P to Sell All Intellectual Properties Relating to Several Banners

Not only has A&P’s bankruptcy put several of its stores in jeopardy of being sold to the highest bidder, but several of its brands as well.

Hilco Streambank is seeking interested buyers for a number of A&P’s brands and intellectual properties, which includes store banners and private label brands.

A&P will sell all intellectual properties relating to A&P®, Pathmark®, Waldbaum’s®, Super Fresh®, Food Basics®, and Best Cellars®, as well as private label product brands, including America’s Choice®, Woodson & James®, Green Way™, Jane Parker®, Via Roma®, and Live Better® among others, Hilco Streambank said in an announcement on Friday.

As of October 2015, A&P operated 297 stores under its various banners, including 103 in New Jersey, 135 in New York, 34 in Pennsylvania, 14 in Connecticut, 9 in Delaware, and 2 in Maryland.

The company has roots dating back to 1859 when it opened its first store on Vesey Street in New York City.

A&P generated total gross sales of approximately $6.5, $5.8, and $5.5 billion in 2012, 2013, and 2014, respectively.
