Blue Apron is turning to sustainability for its future success, if its latest acquisition is any indication. The company has announced it will acquire BN Ranch, bringing its brand, staff of experts, and global network of farms and ranches into the company fold.
Bill Niman, Founder of BN Ranch, established the company in order to raise meat in a wholesome, humane, and environmentally conscious manner. Bill will now act as President and Founder of BN Ranch under Blue Apron.
"Bill is globally recognized as a pioneer in the sustainable meat industry, and we share the same philosophy that high animal welfare and food quality go hand-in-hand" said Matt Wadiak, Co-Founder and COO of Blue Apron. "By acquiring BN Ranch, and bringing Bill onto our team, we are furthering our vision to build a better food system by making high-quality, responsibly raised meat accessible to home chefs across the country."
Under this new agreement, BN Ranch will continue to supply its current retail, institutional, and restaurant customers, in addition to supplementing Blue Apron’s weekly menus with its grass-fed beef. According to a press release, new BN Ranch products will also be added in the coming months.
"Having worked closely with the team at Blue Apron for nearly two years, I've witnessed first-hand their deep commitment to providing the highest quality and wholesome meat and poultry to its customers," said Bill. "I'm excited to be joining a growing company that's positioned to truly change the way that animals are raised for food."
In his new role with Blue Apron, Bill will help the company further develop its animal welfare and husbandry standards for beef, pork, and poultry. The acquisition will also allow BN Ranch to expand its network of farmers, ranchers, and suppliers. Bill first began raising animals in the 1970s for high standards in eating quality, and also founded Niman Ranch.
As Blue Apron looks to continue its reach amongst U.S. consumers, Deli Market News will have the latest in its strategies.
