Meal-kit delivery innovator Blue Apron announced that it will be significantly expanding its fulfillment operations in New Jersey and opening a new 495,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Linden.
"We're excited to be expanding our presence in New Jersey and bringing full-time jobs to the Linden community,” said Matt Salzberg, Blue Apron Co-Founder and CEO, in a press release. “Our new fulfillment center will help improve the efficiency and capacity of our operations to meet strong customer demand."
The Linden facility is expected to employ more than 2,000 people, and the company intends to continue hiring to meet growing demand for its products. The facility will reportedly be outfitted with state-of-the-art technology and a variety of employee amenities.
"We are thrilled that Blue Apron is investing in Linden with its new facility," said Linden Mayor Derek Armstead. "The company's decision to come here will be a boost for our local economy, providing much needed jobs to our area. We look forward to having Blue Apron as a partner in our community."
Construction has already begun on the fulfillment center, which is slated to open for production later this year.
Blue Apron currently operates similar fulfillment centers in Jersey City, New Jersey; Arlington, Texas; and Richmond, California. Another fulfillment center in Fairfield, California, has been announced, and will open in 2018.
