Giant Eagle went on its second large and concentrated hiring spree of the summer last weekend, this time in Pennsylvania. The retailer hosted hiring events at several stores in the Pittsburgh region last Saturday, August 27th, with the intention of hiring upwards of 400 new employees.
Just last June, the company had a similar event in Ohio, when it looked to fill more than 300 positions in the Cincinnati area.
According to news source WTAE, candidates who participated were able to have on-site interviews and possible same-day job offers, with the company offering sign-on bonuses for specialty positions like cake decorators and meat cutters. Openings included:

This is the second key move the company has made in recent weeks, having also alluded to further strategic moves last week when CEO Laura Karet publically discussed a consistent need for reinvention in an increasingly competitive market.
