H-E-B Breaks Ground on its Largest Warehouse Facility


SAN ANTONIO, TX
Monday, November 26th, 2018

Construction on H-E-B’s San Antonio Regional Grocery Warehouse, a 1.6 million-square-foot facility, officially began, and its about to make San Antonio’s East Side a hotspot for the retailer’s supply chain division.

The warehouse marks the company’s largest investment into its manufacturing and supply chain divisions, and is slated to be and up running by 2020. According to a company press release, the facility will hold more than 17,000 grocery items and will provide volume relief at H-E-B’s other facilities in San Antonio and San Marcos.

With 200 loading docks, the retailer noted that 180 trailers will make outbound deliveries from the facility each day. In addition, the warehouse will incorporate solar power solutions and centralized HVAC system, making it the most energy-efficient facility in the company’s network. H-E-B plans to continue developing the site by putting a campus at the location, which will include operations such as manufacturing, warehouse, and transportation.
