Broadening its reach in this competitive grocery market, Kroger and Murray’s Cheese have announced that the two companies have opened their 400th Murray’s Cheese location—expanding into the Houston, Texas-area.
"This milestone highlights Kroger's nearly decade-long relationship with Murray's Cheese. Through these cheese counters, we're able to offer our customers an unparalleled experience and education about artisanal cheeses and specialty foods," said Robert Clark, Kroger's Senior Vice President of Merchandising. "Our partnership with New York's most iconic cheese shop is just one way we are redefining the food and grocery experience for our customers and associates."
The cheese shop has deep roots that stem all the way back to 1940’s New York, and has since built a reputation for offering one of the finest selections of cheese, meat, and specialty food items. And in recent years, the company has paired up with Kroger, aligning itself with the family of stores including Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Dillons, Ralphs, and QFC locations throughout the U.S.
"Our mission is to continuously educate ourselves and our customers on the pleasures of cheese," said Nick Tranchina, Executive Vice President at Murray's Cheese, in a recent press release. "As we pass this milestone, it's exciting to see that every day we get to live our mission in ways we would have hardly thought possible when we started this journey with Kroger 10 years ago."
With hundreds of cheeses, charcuterie, olives, crackers, and specialty food items from around the world, Murray’s shows a deeply involved process for product selection, staff training and development, merchandising, and promotions throughout its locations. Since the relationship’s 2008 beginnings, Murray’s has been a shop on a mission, pairing with thousands of cheesemongers and certified cheese professionals for trainings.
Located in the Houston suburb of Spring, Texas, the 400th location is one more step being taken by the two companies on their long-standing journey to future successes.
