Kroger Looks to Hire 10,000 Across the Nation

CINCINNATI, OH
Wednesday, May 17th, 2017

A new year means new team members for Kroger. The retailer is looking to boost its forces once again, this time by a projected 10,000. Kroger will be holding a hiring event this weekend all across the nation to achieve this goal.

Tim Massa, Group Vice President of Human Resources and Labor Relations, Kroger"Summer is a great time to join our family of stores. Whether preparing and delivering online orders as a member of our ClickList teams or setting up farm-to-table produce stands, we get a fresh chance each day to make real personal connections with customers in our stores," said Tim Massa, Group Vice President of Human Resources and Labor Relations. "If you love people and love food, Kroger is a place where you can come for a job and stay for a career."

The company will be accepting applications from interested candidates on May 20, both online and in person. According to a release, those looking to join the Kroger ranks can simply visit jobs.kroger.com, or pop into a store on the date between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. with no appointment necessary.

Kroger will be adding an estimated 10,000 permanent positions throughout 2017

This event will add an estimated 10,000 permanent positions within the supermarket over 2017. This one day hiring event will be the first for Kroger this year, with another already planned exclusively for military veterans and their family in the fall.

Kroger stated that this event is just the latest in employment investments that the company has made over the years. Last year, Kroger’s workforce grew over 12,000, with more than 86,000 new jobs being created over the past eight years–not counting capital investment positions, or those from mergers.

How will these boosted numbers affect the buyside sector? Deli Market News will report.
