Consumers looking for protein-packed meals for healthy and fulfilling salads or for easy-to-meal-prep options that make the workweek a breeze are flocking to Meijer for its latest additions. The retailer is bringing five new fresh and protein-based salads to its Deli lineup throughout its six-state reach.
The new salads take into account recent flavor trends and include the following:
Nashville Hot Chicken Salad
A combination of rich buttermilk, dried chilies, and spices, this salad offers a new take on the hot mix that originated in Nashville, Tennessee. This salad is mostly sold in fried chicken form and served with a pickle, including shredded rotisserie-style chicken, spicy dried chili, sweet pickle relish, and tangy buttermilk. It can be used as either a side or in sandwiches, pitas, and garden salads—consumers can take their pick.
Korean BBQ Chicken Salad
This Korean-style salad uses a sweet and mildly spicy dressing with fermented chilies, honey, ginger, soy, and toasted sesame oil. This salad uses shredded rotisserie-style chicken, authentic Korean BBQ flavors, red bell pepper, sweet mango, green onion, and toasted sesame seeds. It can also be used as a side or a main dish as tacos.
Lemon Dill Tuna Salad
Using fresh albacore tuna, this non-mayo-based salad combines fresh herbs and a light lemon vinaigrette. This is a great, lighter option for those who don’t feel like cooking but are looking for a tasty main dish or side option.
Brussels Sprout and Broccoli Slaw Salad
This crispy slaw option uses freshly shaved brussels sprouts and broccoli, sweet apple chunks, shaved parmesan cheese, crunchy walnuts, and sweet and smoky vinaigrette. This option is great by itself or as a topper for flatbreads, among other ways like wraps or pitas.
This kale-based slaw is a colorful mix, using sweet and red bell peppers, crunchy almonds, cilantro, and sweet onion vinaigrette. Consumers can throw this option on a flatbread or dress up a sandwich with it.
