Target Hires John Bauer as New Senior Vice President, Global Inventory Management

Target announced its latest senior executive hire. The company has appointed John Bauer to Senior Vice President of Global Inventory Management.

Bauer previously worked with Target from 1999 to 2007 and has held leadership positions at Kohl’s, Starbucks, and most recently, TJX Companies, Inc., where he served as Chief Logistics Officer.In his new role at Target, Bauer will be responsible for managing the inventory for the whole company and ensuring that guests have access to the products they know and love

“Target is dedicated to ensuring guests have access to the products they love, when and how they want them,” said Bauer, in a press release. “I’m looking forward to returning to a great company and helping drive the next phase of an industry-leading supply chain evolution.”

In its press release, the retailer noted that Target is working to completely transform its supply chain and logistics capabilities—leveraging its network of more than 1,800 stores to do so in order to offer free two-day shipping nationwide, same-day delivery shopped by Shipt in 150 markets, and rollout Drive Up and Order Pick-Up services.

Bauer will report to Valdez in his new role, effective August 20, 2018.
