In a move that will increase warehouse capacity by over 100,000-square-feet, Tops Markets has begun the move to a new facility for its frozen food products.
“We are excited to be in a warehouse that is twice the size of our old facility to help us grow,” Kevin Darrington, Tops Markets’ Executive Vice President of Supply Chain and Information Technology, told Buffalo Business First.
The move takes Tops’ warehouse from Cheektowaga, New York, down south to West Seneca, New York's North America Park. The company will be taking over space that had been previously leased to Rich Products Corp, according to the source.
The Cheektowaga facility is 95,000-square-feet, while the new West Seneca facility is 200,000-square-feet.
The new warehouse, like its predecessor, primarily houses frozen food items. Darrington says that under this new deal, Tops will no longer have to rely on outsourcing some of its frozen food storage.
Buffalo Business First reports that the West Seneca site will employ 64 people, but more may be hired as Tops’ expands its store portfolio.
