Trader Joe’s is embarking on a new state, gearing up to open its first-ever Oklahoma location in February of the new year.
Spanning about 9,500 square-feet, the store will be located in Tulsa and serve a wide inventory, ranging from fresh produce to artisan breads and deli items, as well as other specialty products. The Oklahoman reports that the retailer plans to host a grand opening for the store on February 26, 2016.
“With the announcements of Costco, Urban Outfitters, and now Trader Joe’s, Tulsa is a place where retailers want to be as we have a strong economy, philanthropic and business community, and have a uniqueness that is hard to find anywhere else in the country,” Mayor Dewey Bartlett said in an earlier announcement of Trader Joe’s expansion, calling it an opportunity that will open a new retail market for Tulsa.
The chain isn’t stopping at the first location, either. Already, plans for a second store in Nichols Hills are in motion. While applications for store associates will be accepted starting January 2nd, and continue through the 6th, Trader Joe’s spokeswoman Alison Mochizuki told The Oklahoman that no opening date has yet been set. The store, however, will probably launch in the latter half of 2016.
