In the latest win for the highly-decorated cheese company, Sartori Cheese has been awarded one of the World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest top distinctions. Sartori was named the Cheese and Butter Grand Champion for its Limited Edition Pastorale Blend.
This contest, sponsored by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association, is one of the only judging contests in North America to include all dairy products. Including awards for cheese, butter, yogurt, ice cream, cottage cheese, fluid milk, whipping cream, sour cream, and whey processors, the contest gives all walks of dairy producers the unique opportunity to compete.
Sartori Founder Paolo Sartori, a lifelong connoisseur of lazy country picnics, is said to be the inspiration for this blend of the finest cow’s and sheep’s milk. Complete with a sweet, cool, smoky finish and hand-dusted with paprika, this creamy cheese is decidedly unique and earthy. On top of this latest honor, the Pastorale blend took home top awards from the World Cheese Awards and a gold medal from the American Cheese Society.
Sartori was only 1 of 13 Wisconsin-based cheeses to take home first place in the 23 cheese categories. Other category winners included Emmi Roth of Monroe for Petite Swiss; Mill Creek of Arena for a caraway brick; and Babcock Hall Dairy on the UW-Madison campus for its gouda.
According to the Lacrosse Tribune, all category winners will be auctioned on September 29 during the World Dairy Expo, with a portion of the proceeds being used to fund scholarships for students pursuing careers in the dairy industry.
