It’s official! Interim President of Ahold Delhaize banner The GIANT Company John Ruane has graduated to the role of President, continuing his work to support the omnichannel retailer’s continued growth and expansion.
“I’m honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as President of The GIANT Company,” Ruane said. “Guided by our purpose of connecting families for a better future in all that we do, I’m looking forward to building on The GIANT Company’s incredible legacy and working with our entire team to do what we do best: ensuring we are always well-positioned to not only meet but exceed the needs of our customers and communities who’ve trusted us for the past century.”
Before being named interim President, Ruane was Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for The GIANT Company. In this role, he led the merchandising and marketing teams to develop and implement customer-centric strategies while improving the shopper experience and the company’s overall value proposition.
Ruane began his grocery career at 14 at Foodtown in New Jersey, where he worked through college. Later, he joined Pathmark and held positions of increasing responsibility at retail and merchandising before joining Ahold Delhaize USA companies in 2011. He joined The GIANT Company in 2018, according to a press release.
