A force for good—who doesn’t want to be one? But, there is a big difference between wanting and doing. Beehive Cheese is putting its goals into action, recently receiving an impressive distinction. Celebrating its 18th anniversary, Beehive has been certified as a B Corporation.
“We believe that as Beehive Cheese continues to grow, we have an even greater responsibility to use our business as a force for good. We continue to hold true to our core values, support the wellbeing of our staff, have awareness of our environmental impact, and value our vendors as much as we do our customers,” said President Britton Welsh. “Our goal is to provide a place for each member of our team to be engaged in meaningful work. We aim to ‘make friends with cheese’ with our customers and every single person involved in our family company.”
The verification process measured the company’s social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Companies undergo a rigorous and holistic review of the impact of their operations and business model on their workers, customers, communities, and environment.
A press release added that B Corp certification is based on a vision of creating a community of companies dedicated to redefining what it means to be successful. As one of the seven United States artisan cheesemakers to become certified, Beehive is joining a movement of over 6,200 B Corps in 84 countries and 156 industries globally.
Beehive Cheese was founded with a goal of positively impacting both society and the environment. The company believes in boosting the wellbeing of its team and the economic vitality of its community. The brand encourages community service of all employees and offers paid time off for community service within the industry. Beehive Cheese also contributes 5 percent of profits or more to local charities through cash and in-kind donations.
Cheers to Beehive Cheese on this exciting achievement!
