Beehive Cheese, a small, family cheesemaker from Utah, has been in the cheesemaking biz since 2005, and innovation is born and bred into its endeavors. As I walked the Winter Fancy Food Show floor, I was struck by one such innovation: the company's Pour Me A Slice cheese. To find out more, I spoke with Pat Ford, Co-Founder, who was more than happy to fill me in.
“Our Pour Me a Slice is a Basil Hayden Bourbon washed cheese. Some of our other cheeses are our Barely Buzzed, which is rubbed with coffee and lavender, and our New Mexico Hatch Chile, which we rolled out last year. We’ve had a lot of comments on our Pour Me A Slice, which is a collaboration with Basil Hayden Bourbon from Kentucky,” Pat explained.
With sweet bourbon notes and delicious creaminess, this cheese deserves a spot on every charcuterie board or cheese platter.
As Pat noted, “Basil Hayden is trying to get our millennial friends to bring a bottle of bourbon to a party instead of wine or beer. They’ve had a lot of success with it and a lot of people are turning their heads for it.”
