Convenience is king in retail it seems, and even storied brands like Piller’s Fine Foods are having to take snacking seriously. Thankfully, the company isn’t just reacting—it’s anticipating trends with its Black Kassel brand.
I recently spoke to Dave Brandow, Director of International Sales for Piller’s Black Kassel, to learn about the ways in which the Black Kassel brand is pairing authentic Germanic sausage-making techniques with on-trend, convenient, and forward-thinking formats.
“Our Black Kassel items are very traditional products from Central Europe, accentuating traditional methods of producing salami, dry cured salami, and we adhere to that Old World classic craftsmanship, legendary taste,” Brandow tells me. “But what we’re doing now, we’re breaking those traditional salamis into consumer-friendly, easy-to-use packaging formats.”
With the company’s line of convenient Salami Whips and Salami Chips, Piller’s Black Kassel is offering shelf-stable, ready-to-go salami snacks geared toward today’s on-the-go consumer.
“[They’re] backpack-ready,” Brandow says. “You’re ready to go and find your new adventure.”
