Califia Farms Announces Launch of Iced Café Mixers; Suzanne Ginestro Discusses

Gen Z and millennials love iced coffee—at least according to Califia Farms. Capitalizing on this rising trend, the plant-based brand recently launched its Iced Café Mixers, a line of dairy-free creamers specially formulated for cold coffees.

Suzanne Ginestro, Chief Marketing Officer, Califia Farms“Califia is excited to be the first to respond in a major way to this massive youth-led shift toward cold coffee,” said Suzanne Ginestro, Chief Marketing Officer. “Gen Z and millennials drink iced coffee throughout the day and all year round, and we saw an opportunity to develop a groundbreaking product to better meet their needs. These Iced Café Mixers allow them to enjoy their iced coffee to the very last drop with absolutely no compromise on flavor, creaminess, or whitening.”

The new Iced Café Mixers are available in Vanilla Sweet Crème and Caramel Crème flavors, a release stated. While many creamers are designed for hot coffee, Califia’s new launch was specially created for cold coffee beverages, maintaining their sweet, vivid flavor even as ice melts.

Califia’s Iced Café Mixers come in a refrigerated format and will be available at Target, Kroger, and other retailers across the country in 25.4 oz bottles and have a suggested retail price of $4.89. They contain 3 grams of sugar per serving and use a creamy blend of oat and almond milk.

This launch comes as consumer consumption of coffee at home is still at a record high due to convenience, affordability, and work-from-home policies. According to Mintel, sales of ready-to-drink coffee were up 44 percent in 2021 vs. 2019, while sales of refrigerated creamers and refrigerated plant-based creamers were up 19 percent and 86 percent over the same period.

“Consumers want to recreate the café experience at home and are looking to retail products, like our Iced Café Mixers, to achieve that,” Ginestro continued. “This at-home coffee consumption behavior coupled with the generational shift toward cold coffee has made these products an instant hit with retailers. They recognize this innovation as a major step forward for the coffee category.”

As this trend among younger consumer groups continues to evolve, what other innovations does Califia have up its sleeve? Deli Market News will keep you in the know.
