Cermer CEO Nuño Arroyo Discusses Ceramic Packaging

SAN FRANCISCO, CA
Tuesday, March 19th, 2019

One of the trends you may or may not have noticed bubbling up this January at Winter Fancy Food Show 2019 or this March at Expo West is a propensity toward ceramic containers. From puddings and cakes to yogurts and preserves, ceramic containers caught my eye across the entirety of the show floor at each of these shows.

I recently spoke with Nuño Arroyo, CEO of Cermer, to learn more about ceramic packaging and Cermer—one of the world’s preeminent manufacturers of ceramic food containers.

Nuño Arroyo, CEO, Cermer“We produce containers for different food segments like yogurt, ice cream, ready meals, spreads, butter, etc. What sets us apart is our ability to produce at the industry level, Nuño told me. “Which means we are able to produce hundreds of thousands, up to twenty million units for a client. Something also unique is the treatment we provide to our containers and the added possibility that our clients have to heat seal our containers.”

Cermer's ceramic packaging is adaptable to any number of clients' specific requirements

And Nuño noted, Cermer’s packaging is extremely customizable and utile. In addition to a premium-quality look and feel, ceramic containers are reusable, biodegradable, and stand out uniquely on the shelf.

“Something very important, is our ability to adapt our designs to our clients specific requirements. We are very well integrated, we produce our own molds, as well as glazing,” said Nuño.

In addition to conveying premium quality, Cermer ceramic products are reusable, biodegradable, and microwave and dishwasher safe

Nuño added: “We can adapt our production process to your specific requirements. If you want a specific color, a Pantone, etc, we are able to develop the glazing for you. All of our containers are reusable. They can be put in the oven, the freezer, or the microwave.”
