According to Idaho News 6, Chobani has announced plans to expand its Twin Falls yogurt factory, which is the largest in the world. Chobani announced plans to grow its massive facility by another 500,000 square feet—a move that means more yogurt, more jobs, and even more impact on the local dairy industry.
Idaho Governor Brad Little put it best: "He (Hamdi Ulukaya) knows what the American consumer, what the world consumers, wants. That’s what he is producing here."
And honestly, he’s not wrong. Since 2012, Chobani’s Twin Falls plant has been a powerhouse, filling store shelves across the country while providing over a thousand jobs for the Magic Valley community.
Now, with a $500 million expansion in the works, production is expected to jump by 50 percent, bringing Chobani’s total investment in Idaho to a staggering $1.8 billion.
So, what’s actually changing? More warehouses, more production capacity, and a whole lot more milk. Chobani will double its milk usage—from four million pounds per day to over ten million.
That’s huge—not just for the factory, but for local dairy farmers who will see a major boost in demand.
For Twin Falls Mayor Ruth Pierce, this expansion is proof of the decade-long partnership between Chobani, the city, and the Urban Renewal Agency.
And if you’re wondering why Idaho keeps getting the big investments instead of New York or Australia (where Chobani also has facilities), Chief Executive Officer Hamdi Ulukaya has a simple answer: "Every time I say I’m going to go somewhere else, we always come back and do it here."
Construction is already underway, and in just about a year, we’ll see this vision come to life.
