The snack category continues to grow at an accelerated pace, and consumers can’t get enough of our industry’s latest innovations. Recently, the Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago, Illinois, was a prime example of what suppliers, creators, and dream makers are capable of. Dewey’s Bakery is one provider that showed up and showed out at the event, and I couldn’t wait to glean some insights from Ellen Howse, Chief Marketing Officer, on how events like these drive our industry.

Ellen Howse, Chief Marketing Officer, Dewey’s BakeryWe were very happy to participate in Sweets & Snacks this year, and we were thrilled at the positive reaction we received to our new branding, our new Peanut Butter thin cookies, and our new Mini Cookies in resealable pouches from customers, influencers, and fellow exhibitors,” begins Ellen. “With our Peanut Butter launch, we now have six core thin cookie flavors (including Meyer Lemon, Triple Ginger, Brownie Crisp, Salted Caramel, and Toasted Coconut), as well as three flavors of Mini Cookies in resealable pouches (Peanut Butter, Meyer Lemon, and Brownie Crisp) to satisfy a wide variety of tastes, customers, and eating occasions.”

With in-person communication back again, Dewey’s was able to meet a broad range of new customers, particularly those in the on-the-go and specialty channels. Looking ahead, Ellen comments on how Dewey’s is growing rapidly, and the team views the Sweets & Snacks Expo as a key launching pad for its national expansion.

At this year's Sweets & Snacks Expo, Dewey's Bakery shared its new branding, Peanut Butter thin cookies, and Mini Cookies in resealable pouches with attendees

“Our company has been busy laying the groundwork for our national expansion, but COVID limited our ability to tell our story in person,” explains Ellen. “We plan to have an even bigger presence at Sweets & Snacks next year and to surprise and delight show attendees with some new product offerings already under development.”

As we are able to ease back into in-person interactions, events such as these are highly anticipated, not just for the interaction, but being able to conduct business face-to-face provides a deeper sense of commitment and accomplishment.

“It was great to be able to meet face-to-face and to sample our ‘Exceptionally Thin. Remarkably Flavorful™’ cookies with so many new customers and potential partners,” continues Ellen. “In-person shows give us a great opportunity to let our customers know our plans, and we look forward to building on these new relationships and more.”
