Ethel's Baking Co. Launches New Individually Wrapped Turtle Dandy Dessert Bar; Jill Bommarito Comments

Ethel’s Baking Co. is helping us kick off the week with a bevy of exciting news, as the brand has launched its new individually wrapped Turtle Dandy Dessert Bar, appointed two new executives, and expanded its retail distribution. The new product, which has been named a 2021 Natural Products Expo East NEXTY Award Finalist in the Best New Sweet or Dessert Category, is just the beginning of its exciting announcements.

The Turtle Dandy joins a line of single-serve dessert bars that Ethel’s released earlier this year, including its Pecan Dandy, Cinnamon Crumble, Raspberry Crumble, and Blondie Bars. As Ethel’s expands its offerings, the company is also positioning itself for future growth, a press release explained.

“I am so excited about the momentum that has been building for Ethel’s as we add new offerings, expand our leadership team, and grow our retail distribution throughout the U.S. and Canada,” said Bommarito. “In our new, 20,000-square-foot, dedicated gluten-free facility in Michigan, we continue to take great care in crafting every batch of our dessert bars, layering them by hand with premium and local ingredients.”

In addition to introducing this new product, Ethel’s has expanded its team with the addition of two senior executives:

  • Jarett Peppard, Vice-President of Sales, will be utilizing more than 25 years of industry success to develop and oversee Ethel’s go-to-market strategy. Prior to joining Ethel’s, Peppard led the sales organization at Just Desserts and was the Chief Executive Officer at AG Ferrari Foods. He has also held senior leadership positions with retailers such as Roche Bros., Harris Teeter, Save Mart, and Safeway
  • Ronnie Elrod, Director of Operations, joins the Ethel’s team brining over 20 years of plant management experience with him. Previous to Ethel’s, Elrod served in multiple leadership positions in the baking industry including Vice President of Manufacturing at Dave's Killer Bread. Scaling the facility to 300-plus employees, as well as senior leadership positions at Miller Baking Company, Base Culture, and Bridgetown Natural Foods

But wait, there’s more! Ethel’s has also expanded its retail distribution as of late, building out its presence at Raley’s, Wegmans, Meijer, Jewel, The Fresh Market, and Earth Fare, as well as in multiple Whole Foods regions. The bars are now available in 3-bar packs and single-serve in more than 1,500 stores.
