The plant-based category continues to expand, with new additions seemingly popping up in the newswire every day. Today, it is popular plant-based brand Follow Your Heart that is helping to expand the category with its new Dairy-Free Feta Crumbles Cheese Alternative.
“When we founded the company in the 1970s, I was unaware of what we would accomplish and how much the plant-based market would grow. We were just following our hearts and doing what we thought would make the world a better place,” said CEO and Co-Founder Bob Goldberg. “We’re excited whenever we launch a new product, but to be able to be the first to introduce a crumbled feta cheese alternative is a direct result of our team’s commitment to innovation in the plant-based space. Cheese alternatives are a major focus for us, and we will continue to grow in this category.”
Uniquely, the new Feta Crumbles product is coconut oil-based, making it allergen-free, non-GMO, vegan, and free of dairy, soy, casein, gluten, lactose, and preservatives. In total, the one-of-a-kind alternative only touts 10 ingredients.
In the flavor department, according to a press release, the first-of-its-kind cheese alternative tastes as creamy and tangy as the real thing and is right at home in salads and Greek favorites like spanakopita, with the fact that it’s already crumbled adding ease to consumers’ cooking and meal prepping. This boosts its presence on-shelf and makes it a product that retailers will want consumers to see.
Follow Your Heart’s latest launch coincides with the plant-based pioneer’s 50th anniversary. Its latest product debut was created at the company’s Los Angeles-based solar-powered, zero-waste facility called Earth Island.
The Dairy-Free Feta Crumbles Cheese Alternative hits retail shelves this week and is available in a 6 oz package with a four-month shelf life.
