Foodservice Chain The Big Salad Acquired by Brent Sheena

Entrepreneur Brent Sheena is bolstering his presence in the foodservice sector as he recently acquired fast-casual restaurant chain The Big Salad. No financial terms were disclosed, but the deal stated Sheena will be gaining management and support of the company’s nine current locations in Michigan and Texas, along with intellectual property rights to support future evolution.

According to the press release, Sheena acquired the chain from Founder and Chief Executive Officer John Bornoty, who will stay on as a consultant and assist with franchise development, a press release explained.

Future plans for the chain are to expand to 50 additional franchises in new markets by 2025. It was additionally noted that Sheena is finalizing new locations in Owosso and Farmington, Michigan; York, South Carolina; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Jackson, Mississippi, in addition to a corporate store and training facility in the Carolinas this year.

As part of the acquisition, the company headquarters were relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, with a corporate office retained in Waterford, Michigan.
