With an already strong presence in the foodservice industry, Golbon is taking steps to further strengthen its operations through the growth of its leadership team. Naming three new leaders, the company has selected Jeff Barstow to take on the role of Director of Category Management, Geoff Abell as Director of Member Development, and Betty Wettstein as Member Manager of Convenience and Retail.
Barstow has held multiple key senior roles within the industry for over 30 years, a press release stated, including being an Owner/Founder of an independent broadline distributor in the Northeast.
“Jeff brings to Golbon a wealth of knowledge and strong relationships from within the foodservice industry. We could not be happier to add such a diverse resource like Jeff to our Golbon team,” said Randy Dominguez, Vice President of Category Management.
Joining Barstow in the string of new appointments is Abell. Bringing an extensive background in sales, he reportedly spent the last 10 years as the VP of Sales for a foodservice distributor in North Carolina.
“We are excited to have Geoff on board and are looking forward to utilizing his foodservice distribution experience to help enhance the growth of Golbon’s distributor members,” said Tony Taylor, Vice President of Member Development, about the appointment.
Wettstein also has experience in wholesale food distribution and retail stores, including sales, purchasing, operations, and marketing. In her previous role, she was a Food Service Director for a distributor supporting a six-state region of convenience store business, foodservice programs, and product procurement.
“Betty is passionate about the industry, committed to developing lasting relationships, and is a welcomed addition to the Golbon convenience team,” said Ryan Peters, Vice President of Convenience and Retail, noting how Wettstein will play a pivotal role on the foodservice operator's team.
President Dave Myers commented on the role these three leaders will play in the company’s ongoing growth and success.
“With Golbon and our Golbon members experiencing record growth for the past few years, we are in the fortunate position to be hiring some of the industry’s best talent,” said Myers. “We are extremely proud when we say Golbon is ‘built by food distributors, for food distributors,’ and these latest additions to the team continue to reinforce that message. We were all born in distribution.”
