A seasoned food industry veteran and supply chain chief is stepping on the scene at Hearthside Food Solutions as the company appoints Darlene Nicosia as its new Chief Executive Officer. She is taking over the position as part of a long-term succession plan after Chuck Metzger announces his departure after nearly five years.

Darlene Nicosia, Chief Executive Officer, Hearthside Food Solutions“For me, it’s all about teams learning and growing together, achieving ever-greater levels of performance, deepening commitment to our customers, and striving to be their preferred partner. With three decades at one of the world’s great consumer brands, I have seen what is possible when people, process, and purpose unite,” said Nicosia. “Hearthside’s organization and culture are poised for transformational performance and growth, and I look forward to leading the company on that valuable mission.”

Nicosia most recently served as President of Coca-Cola’s Canada and Northeast U.S. Zone, according to a release. She has more than three decades of food industry experience with companies such as Kraft and PepsiCo. The industry ace also served in leadership roles at the Coca-Cola Company spanning 29 years, including running its global Commercial Produce Supply organization and serving as Chief Procurement Officer.

Hearthside Food Solutions appointed Darlene Nicosia as its new Chief Executive Officer

This appointment comes at a pivotal time in Hearthside’s growth as the company has expanded throughout the pandemic and added six additional bakeries over the past year. As demand for high-quality outsourced manufacturing continues to increase, Hearthside sees future growth for firms that can form key partner relationships with leading brands, something that Nicosia has expertise in.

Hearthside is a portfolio company of Charlesbank Capital Partners and Partners Group. Charlesbank Managing Director John Flannery commented on Nicosia’s appointment.

John Flannery, Managing Director, Charlesbank Capital Partners“We sought a senior executive with proven abilities to foster and deliver transformational change across an enterprise and are delighted to have found Darlene Nicosia to lead this organization,” he said. “Her strong operational credentials, deep industry relationships, and experience managing complex businesses in the food category will immediately benefit the business.”

Chris Russell, a Managing Director at Partners Group, also expressed gratitude to Metzger for the developments he made.

Chris Russell, Managing Director, Partners Group“The Board is grateful to Chuck Metzger for his tremendous dedication and valuable contributions over the last several years. Under his leadership, Hearthside has made significant market and product accomplishments that will serve the company well in its next phase of growth,” he said.

Congratulations to Darlene Nicosia on this new role!
