North Country Smokehouse continues to build out its distribution footprint, this time through its latest partnership with The Fresh Market. The company's newest smoked strips will be featured in The Fresh Market's stores and are made from high-quality pork carefully selected and smoked with natural hardwood.
"We believe in the ethical treatment of animals," said Chris Mattera, Culinary Innovator with North Country Smokehouse. "Beyond our commitment to non-GMO ingredients, we adhere to strict Certified Humane Raised and Handled and Global Animal Partnership program standards —in fact, we surpass them."
According to a press release, the organic applewood smoked thick-cut bacon is a tender and flavorful meat that can be enjoyed on its own or used as a versatile ingredient in a variety of dishes. This new offering sits alongside the popular sugar-free variety on shelves in all 159 The Fresh Market store locations.
The bold flavor is not the only distinction the North Country holds. The pork is sourced from the company's own family-farm network, where its livestock is raised with total respect. The farms are located only four hours away from the smokehouse and avoid any ill-treatment of the animals.
"The true measure of progressive agriculture isn't always in what you do, but in what you choose not to do," adds Mattera. "We are thrilled to offer our new organic, thick-cut bacon and give The Fresh Market's guests even more options."
