Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. is flexing its impressive differentiation in the cheese case, highlighting unique production processes and a high commitment to quality as two of its secrets to success. The Deli Market News team recently sought to uncover the enticing attributes of this creative portfolio.
“One of our favorites that we are highlighting this year is the Quinta,” shared Erin Clancy, Midwest Sales and Business Development Manager for Point Reyes. “It’s our soft-ripened spruce-wrapped cheese. The cool thing that sets ours apart is we actually have bay laurel trees on our farm, so we pick the bay leaves and make a tea, and we steep the spruce in the tea. So it adds this nice herbaceous flavor on top of the woodsy characteristics to make it quintessentially California.”
Point Reyes Cheese also offers two flavorful different blues, including its first cheese, The Original blue. This product appeals to consumers with a classic, bright, and peppery American-style blue. In addition, Point Reyes’ Bay Blue is more reminiscent of a European style. This offering serves as a perfect item to introduce consumers to the category, and they are sure to fall in love with it instantaneously.
“My [other] favorite product—and this one is an essential in my kitchen—is the Tomarashi,” Erin added. “The cool thing about it is: our seven spice consists of three different chilis, orange peel, ginger, and nori, and then we use something called a nigella seed, which is like a smoky cumin.”
