Yum! Brands Releases Report Detailing Advancements in Carbon Reduction, Sustainable Packaging, and Promoting Equality; David Gibbs and Jon Hixson Comment

Yum! Brands celebrated its commitment to sustainability with the release of its annual Global Citizenship & Sustainability Report, illuminating advancements in carbon reduction, innovative packaging, and equality promotion.

Brands“Our Good Growth strategy has propelled our sales and restaurant development, which allows us to invest more in areas like renewable energy, supplier pilot programs, and technical training for at-risk youth in our communities—the Growth advances the Good,” shared Chief Executive Officer David Gibbs.

The report detailed Yum!'s commitment to its three priority pillars: People, Food, and Planet, integral to its Good Growth strategy. In 2023, the company achieved notable milestones, including an increase in women holding global corporate leadership roles to 44 percent, up from 33 percent in 2018.

Additionally, over 7,000 restaurant managers completed Yum!’s leadership program, Leading With Heart. According to a press release, Yum! has invested $71 million dollars in community impact programs since 2020, positively affecting over 200,000 individuals through its Unlocking Opportunity Initiative.

On the food front, Yum! reported that more than 70 percent of its approved suppliers achieved Global Food Safety Initiative certification. The company also made significant progress toward its 2026 goal of sourcing over 90 percent cage-free eggs for its restaurants, while endorsing antimicrobial use stewardship principles in poultry production.

In its commitment to environmental stewardship, Yum! Brands remains on track to meet its 2030 emission reduction goals. For example, this includes KFC Europe’s commitment to sourcing 100 percent sustainable soy by 2025 and Taco Bell’s expanded recycling initiatives.
