Midwest distributor Lipari Foods has expanded the scope of its Middle Eastern and mediterranean food division with the acquisition of Jerusalem Foods. Based in Dearborn, Michigan, Jerusalem Foods is the parent of brands like Sahtein and World Pure.
“Lipari’s strategic position is to be one of the premier ‘perimeter of the store and specialty grocery distributors in the U.S.’” Thom Lipari, Lipari Foods’ President and CEO said in a press release. “We are looking forward to the addition of a full ethnic food division with the organization and expanding our current product offerings.”
Lipari referred to Jerusalem Foods as “a leader in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern market” and noted that joining the two companies together would make for increased value that would serve his company’s diverse customer base.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with one of our industry’s leaders,” said Jerusalem Foods Owner Ron Batshon, whose father founded the business in 1976. “I look forward to bringing our extensive capabilities and experience in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food to support Lipari Foods. This will enable Lipari Foods to represent a broader product selection.”
With this expanded product base and focus on growing its ethnic brands, Lipari Foods will be one to watch going forward. Stay tuned to Deli Market News for the latest.
