Just when you think that this media icon has done it all, she does just a little bit more. The Kraft Heinz Company and Oprah Winfrey are bringing a fresh new venture to the table with the debut of O, That’s Good!, a line of four flavorful soups and four savory sides.
“I love healthy foods and eating from my garden,” Winfrey stated. “When Kraft Heinz approached me for a food line, what got my attention is making nutritious comfort foods more accessible to everyone. This product line is real, delicious food with a twist. You’ll feel good about serving it for your family.”
Inspired by the idea of bringing a nutritious take to comfort food classics, O, That’s Good! is the first introduction from the joint venture between Kraft Heinz and Oprah Winfrey, Mealtime Stories, LLC., according to a press release.
Oprah and Kraft Heinz collaborated with a team of creative chefs to develop the new refrigerated brand, which taps real ingredients and boasts no artificial flavors or dyes.
So what fresh-focused flavors does the line bring into the mix? One way is the with the Original Mashed Potatoes, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and Baked Potato Soup, which all have a cauliflower flare. Check out the Broccoli Cheddar Soup, where the team has replaced some of the cheese with butternut squash, increasing veggie consumption and offering a flavorful twist. There is also Creamy Butternut Squash soup with a twist of sweet potatoes and carrots, and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup brings a fresh flavor with celery and carrots. Three Cheese Pasta and Creamy Parmesan Pasta only add to the variety.
“We are thrilled to bring our collective vision to life with O, That’s Good! Soups and Sides,” Nina Barton, SVP of Marketing, Innovation and Research & Development for the U.S. business at Kraft Heinz, said. “With Oprah’s partnership, we’re delivering unbeatable taste and quality that is sure to please everyone at the table.”
Barton continued, adding that “refrigerated products are on the rise and we saw an opportunity to drive excitement in this section of the store with convenient soups and sides made with real ingredients and easy preparation.”
As if the new line wasn’t creating enough excitement, 10 percent of Mealtime Stories’ profits will be equally split between charitable organizations Rise Against Hunger and Feeding America to support the fight against hunger. In addition, The Kraft Heinz Company Foundation intends to make annual donations on behalf of Mealtime Stories to these charities until the joint venture becomes profitable.
The O, That’s Good! Soups and Sides are now hitting the refrigerated section in select grocery stores with plans to launch nationwide in October 2017.
