This month, specialty food producers and stockists were treated to what many consider to be “the Oscars of Specialty Food”; the Specialty Food Association announced the winners of its 2018 sofi™ Awards, and among the proud recipients of sofi statues was Runamok Maple. The forward-thinking company took home the coveted Best New Product award in the Dessert Sauce or Topping Category for its Ginger Root-Infused Syrup.
"We are absolutely thrilled to win a sofi for our Ginger Root Infused Maple Syrup. When we first starting bottling it, everyone on the production team wanted to take some home, and we knew we had a special product.” Runamok Maple Co-Owner Laura Sorkin told me. "Customers at tastings loved it, and it has moved up the ranks to one of our most popular syrups. We are very appreciative of the recognition from the Specialty Food Association because it is one of our favorites too."
Runamok Maple’s Ginger Root-Infused Syrup was selected from a field of more than 2,600 entrees by an expert panel of 58 judges during a blind taste testing held this March.
The product is one of a dozen offered by Runamok Maple, a company founded by husband-wife team Eric and Laura Sorkin in 2006. With the motto “Make your own tradition,” Runamok Maple’s organic, infused, barrel-aged, and smoked maple syrups are more than mere pancake accoutrement.
