Safe Catch Introduces New Products, Partners with Kroger

SAUSALITO, CA
Wednesday, June 6th, 2018

Starting this month, more consumers than ever before will have access to Safe Catch’s additive free, mercury-tested tuna. The Bay Area-based brand has entered into a partnership with one of the nation’s largest grocers, The Kroger Co., to bring all the health benefits of canned and pouched tuna to shoppers—without the mercury risk.

Bryan Boches, Co-Founder, Safe Catch“Safe Catch tuna will be in Kroger stores nationally starting June 4th. Millennials seeking healthier and better tasting food have made Safe Catch tuna the fastest growing tuna brand in the U.S.,” says Bryan Boches, Co-founder. “The Kroger launch is going to accelerate consumer awareness that SafeCatch is the only brand in the world that tests every single fish for mercury.”

Kroger will launch Safe Catch unique Whole 30- and Paleo-approved pouched tunas that include plain, Citrus Pepper, Garlic Herb, and Cajun.

Safe Catch Tuna

Recently named one of the “World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2018” by Fast Company, SafeCatch is featured in 10,000 stores. The rapidly expanding tuna and salmon brand began in 2015 with the goal of protecting consumers and the ocean from contaminants.

“We were surprised at how many delis and schools want a premium tuna that is healthier, better tasting and 100% sustainable. We’ve had delis show a 25% increase in tuna sales after introducing Safe Catch,” says Bryan Boches.

Safe Catch Wild Pink Salmon

Safe Catch was initially conceived in 2004 after Co-Founder Sean Wittenberg’s mother was diagnosed with mercury poisoning from regularly eating tuna. Safe Catch invented new revolutionary mobile technology to test every fish for mercury. The seafood industry was not interested in testing so the two launched Safe Catch and quickly gained support from health-conscious consumers.

“Safe Catch Elite tuna averages eight times less mercury than Albacore tuna and tests as pure as wild salmon which makes it great for pregnant women, kids, and everyone,” Boches notes. “Safe Catch tuna is made with less processing and no additives. We don’t precook, use cheap additives or machine pack. Safe Catch tuna is a solid pure tuna steak that is hand packed and slow cooked to retain freshness, flavor, and all nutrients. A 3 oz Safe Catch tuna pouch has 24 grams of protein, no sugar, and no carbs.”
