Award-winning spice blend provider the zen of slow cooking is introducing a new line of premium spice blends in partnership with one of the nation’s premium grocery retailers. The company has announced a new line catering to the fast-growing multicooker market, to debut at Safeway and Albertsons locations this month.
“We knew this was a match made in heaven immediately! Selling the zen of slow cooking spices allows our customers to easily prepare a simple, healthy, and delicious meal for their family—at a price point we all can love,” said Kelly Mullin, VP of Marketing and Merchandising for Safeway Albertsons, in a press release. “Prep times hover around just fifteen minutes, and all ingredients can be picked up in our stores—it doesn’t get much more convenient than that! Our Oregon and southwest Washington Safeway and Albertsons stores will have all varieties available October through January.”
In the company’s press release, the zen of slow cooking noted that, according to Statista, retail unit sales of slow cookers in the United States grew 33 percent from $10.5 million in 2010 to $14 million in 2017. U.S. sales of multicookers more than doubled in 2017—from $188.5 million in 2016 to $379.7 million the next year.
One of the main reasons, the company noted, for this increased adoption of the slow cooker is that it’s an easy way to save time without sacrificing flavor; making it easier for families with busy schedules to enjoy a gourmet meal without sacrificing flavor, which is at the core of the zen of slow cooking’s mission.
When co-founders Meg Barnhart and Jane McKay created the zen of slow cooking, they set out to give access to delicious home cooked meals to as many families as possible.
