When Kate Paine offers you a spoonful of goat cheese, you do not decline. The Director of Marketing for Vermont Creamery recently gave me a sneak peek (and taste) of the cheesemaker’s latest products, and they certainly did not disappoint.
"We have our fresh goat cheese, which is amazing for sprinkling on salads, eating fresh, putting on a cracker, and putting it on pizza. In 2018, we launched a couple of new flavors,” Kate began telling me, noting how each of the unique items cater to different consumer demands.
The new products include Fresh Herb—a mixture of thyme and rosemary— a Cranberry, Orange, and Cinnamon goat cheese, and a Strawberry Spritz flavor.
“Everybody wants something a little special. Our first flavor is inspired by Champagne and strawberries. This is where we came up with Strawberry Spritz,” Kate noted. “What we love about goat cheese is that it's a great carrier for flavor. It still has that really mild tang, but then you're just hit with the sweetness and creaminess.”
Last but not least, Vermont Creamery also has a new Sweet Truffle goat cheese.
“We wanted to do something truffle. Our culinary lead started with a honey-sweetened base and then added the truffle to it. What that does is it really creates this nice balance of sweet and savory,” Kate concluded. “That's what's new!"
