Congratulations are in order for Carr Valley Cheese Company! The Wisconsin-based cheesemaker recently earned multiple prestigious awards at the United States Championship Cheese Contest. To get the inside scoop, I had a chat with Elle Williams, Director of Sales and Brand Development.
“We’re thrilled to share that Carr Valley Cheese won six top awards at the U.S. Championship Cheese Contest in Green Bay! Out of more than 2,400 entries from 31 states, two of our cheeses—Blue Spruce Blue and Mobay—were honored by making it into the prestigious Top 20 in the running for the overall championship,” Elle began telling me. “These two cheeses showcase the vast range of expertise we offer, from crafting rich, complex blue cheeses to creating unique American originals that highlight our innovative spirit and dedication to quality.”
The recent awards won by Carr Valley include:
“Our cheeses stand out because of the dedication and craftsmanship of our cheesemakers, who bring decades of experience and passion to every batch,” Elle said. “Led by Master Cheesemaker Sid Cook, our team is continually learning and refining our American Original recipes. We’re grateful to work with the highest quality local milk from the Driftless Region of Wisconsin, using time-honored techniques to create distinctive flavors. The balance, texture, and complexity of our cheeses are a reflection of that care and commitment.”
Elle explained that winning at a prestigious competition like the U.S. Championship Cheese Contest reinforces what Carr Valley customers already know—the company is among the best in the country. These awards serve as a mark of quality and excellence, helping consumers and retailers trust that they’re getting truly artisan, handcrafted cheese that delivers on taste and tradition.
“We’re incredibly grateful for our talented cheesemakers and dedicated team, whose hard work and expertise make everything possible. It’s an honor to have our cheeses recognized, with over 900 national and international awards reflecting their commitment to quality,” Elle concluded. “We deeply appreciate the support that allows us to continue sharing our craft and look forward to innovating while staying true to our roots. Reach out if you’d like to try samples of these esteemed winners or any of our one-of-a-kind varieties!”
As someone who has had the chance to try these cheeses at many trade shows over the years, I can attest to the fact that quality is always front and center. Stay tuned as we continue to follow this leading company.
