Anything can be a snack, but not everything can be a great snack. Proving that the specialty set is teeming with gold-star snacking material, Arla Foods’ Castello brand is unveiling a lineup of new products. Its freshly launched CASTELLO Cheese Crisps and CASTELLO Cheese Snack Bars serve as portable snack options that meet increasing consumer demand for variety.

Leah Sbriscia, Brand Manager, Castello Cheese“Not only are consumers demanding portable real food snack options, they are also looking for variety in the category,” said Leah Sbriscia, Brand Manager. “We’re thrilled to be able to meet that demand by taking traditional recipes for our most popular cheeses, CASTELLO Havarti Cheese and CASTELLO Gouda Cheese, and expanding our product offerings."

The brand’s new Havarti Cheese Crisps and Gouda Cheese Crisps are made with 100 percent real cheese and feature the distinct flavors of each variety in a savory, crunchy texture, a press release explained. An innovative baking process results in a thicker, crunchier crisp in comparison to other category offerings. CASTELLO Havarti Cheese Snack Bars feature a mild, creamy taste and buttery tang, while CASTELLO Gouda Cheese Snack Bars continue to boast a rich, creamy texture with a nutty flavor and a hint of sweetness.

Castello sees significant opportunity for Havarti and Gouda to increase share of total snacking occasions, with 53 percent of consumers saying they have been snacking on cheese more often, the press release continued. The brand saw a sales increase of more than 20 percent for Castello Havarti Cheese in the latest 52 weeks ending October 9, 2021, in comparison to the same period last year. Additionally, the brand experienced a 42 percent increase in Castello Gouda Cheese sales in the same time period.

“CASTELLO is rooted in traditional cheesemaking methods dating back to 1893, and our new snacks adhere to that craftsmanship, bringing natural ingredients and premium taste to the category,” said Sbriscia. “We’re excited about our delicious new products and will continue to offer consumers a variety of ways to enjoy our cheeses.”

CASTELLO Cheese Snack Bars and CASTELLO Cheese Crisps are expected to be available in early 2022.
