A $1.05 billion deal is paving the way for future growth and increased consumer reach for Costco Wholesale Corporation. The retail giant recently announced the completion of a transaction, purchasing the remaining 45 percent of Costco-Taiwan that it did not own.
The purchase was officially completed on June 30, 2022, as the grocer revealed in a press release. Costco bought the minority stake in a joint venture through a long-time partner, and now indirectly owns all of Costco Taiwan.
In all, Costco estimates that the purchase will add to the company's earnings per share by 1–1.5 percent.
Costco currently operates 833 warehouses worldwide, including 574 in the United States and Puerto Rico and 14 in Taiwan.
With international growth in its forecast, Deli Market News will continue to report on Costco’s ambitious expansion plans.
