Dewey's Bakery Opens Holiday Pop-Up

WINSTON-SALEM, NC
Monday, December 16th, 2019

Popular regional bakery, Dewey’s Bakery, is heating up the North Carolina marketplace just in time for the holidays with a series of seasonal pop-up stores that it will operate with the help of several local non-profit organizations.

The pop-ups are scattered throughout North Carolina, including around four dozen in the Triad area

The company is operating approximately 100 pop-up stores featuring its popular bakery items, including sugar cakes and crispy cookies. The pop-ups are planned to run through Christmas Eve, and all but two of them are run by non-profit organizations, according to The Triad Business Journal. Operators of these stores are allowed to keep 35 percent of all sales revenue, which typically reaches about $35,000. The majority of the pop-ups opened right before Thanksgiving and will close by Christmas Eve.

The pop-ups are scattered throughout North Carolina, including around four dozen in the Triad area. The highest-volume store in Winston-Salem is expected to match or exceed last year’s sales total of $100,000. The stores will carry both packaged items with a shelf life and items fresh from the bakery.

About six years ago, Dewey’s Bakery Owner Scott Livengood began implementing the pop-up format, which coincides with the company’s continued growth that includes product placement in Harris Teeter, The Fresh Market, Walmart, and Food Lion stores, the news source reports.
