With winter weather, the holidays coming up, and the cost of food high, food insecurity is at a high point. On Thursday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m., Philadelphia-based premium deli meat and cheese company Dietz & Watson, in conjunction with Food City, delivered over a ton of premium deli meats and sausages to Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee along with a check for $2,250. It’s all part of an annual program run by Dietz & Watson and Food City called Families Helping Families.
As noted in two recent press releases, this annual program also included the donation of nearly 1.5 tons of premium deli meats and sausages to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, along with a check for $2,250, in addition to over 1.5 tons donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee with a $2,250 check.
For the past seven years, and now in its eighth year, the Dietz & Watson “Families Helping Families” program has resulted in donations of well over a half million dollars in cash and product to local charities and food banks near retail partners nationwide.
