As the plant-based sector continues to hit the high notes, Eat Beyond portfolio company TurtleTree is singing a lucrative song as it recently brought in $30 million in Series A financing. Led by VERSO Capital, this new investment bumps the brand's funding to over $40 million to date.

Headquartered in Singapore, TurtleTree is a biotech company that uses cell-based technologies to create sustainable food and dairy products, according to a release. Currently, it is working to pioneer cell-based milk to replace traditional synthetic infant formulas. It is also developing precision fermentation technology to produce the highly functional ingredients found in human milk.

As part of the portfolio company's recent growth, TurtleTree established a 24,000-square-foot R&D facility in Sacramento, California, to enhance its fermentation technology.
