The demand for sustainable products doesn’t seem to be dying down any time soon. With many companies, especially those is the dairy sector, looking to forge new paths to a sustainable future, the Foremost Farms USA Board of Directors has formed a new committee to oversee its sustainability and environmental stewardship strategies.

Greg Schlafer, President and Chief Executive Officer, Foremost Farms“We’re fortunate to have a Board that has always recognized the importance of sustainability,” said Greg Schlafer, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to the insight and guidance they will be able to offer the Foremost Farms Sustainability Council and our regional leaders.”

The Sustainability Council is made up of Foremost Farms executive leadership team members and employees, and takes a proactive approach to environmental stewardship, health and safety, community engagement, and other factors, as noted in a press release. The Council will work to identify opportunities to make a difference in the industry and develop useful strategies for successful execution. Members of the Sustainability Committee include Mike Geerlings, Roger Hildebrandt, John Machuzick, and Jay Richardson.

The new Committee demonstrates the dairy cooperative’s long-standing commitment to implementing sustainable practices and evolving its environmental stewardship standards.

Dave Scheevel, Chairman of the Board, Foremost Farms“As a cooperative of dairy farmers, this new Sustainability Committee aligns with the values and practices we already hold,” said Dave Scheevel, Chairman. “This is our way to formally enable the Board to focus on and engage with the important work that is happening across the cooperative.”

The Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy recently published the 2020 U.S. Dairy Sustainability Report that covers calendar years 2019 and 2020, providing critical updates on the dairy community’s approach to measuring and reporting progress against goals as outlined by the U.S. Dairy Stewardship Commitment, including the first formal analysis of aggregated data from dairy processors, such as Foremost Farms, that have adopted the U.S. Dairy Stewardship Commitment.

Deli Market News will keep an eye out as more suppliers look to revitalize the dairy sector through unique sustainability strategies, so keep clicking back.
