They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that statement stands true for one grocer’s ever-evolving store footprint. With its newest e-commerce fulfillment center in Leander, Texas, H-E-B is amplifying its presence in the Lone Star State.
“At H-E-B, we’re always looking for ways to offer Texans a better shopping experience and more options to choose how they shop, pay for, and receive their products,” said Kedar Patel, Vice President of E-Commerce. “Across our business, we are adopting innovative technologies that give our Partners the tools they need to provide top-quality service to our customers whether they shop online or in our stores.”
The new facility sits at 50,000 square feet and will support H-E-B’s Curbside and Home Delivery orders throughout Leander and surrounding cities in Central Texas, a release stated.
The facility builds on the retailer’s commitment to integrating innovative technologies in order to drive omnichannel development, as well as its long-standing presence in the region.
Meeting the rising demand for online shopping, the e-commerce fulfillment centers stock products found in stores that are used to fill Curbside and Home Delivery orders. The facilities allow for greater capacity, efficiency, decreased aisle congestion for in-store shoppers, and better product availability.
The facilities utilize various types of automation to help streamline the process and increase productivity. Through these centers, H-E-B has grown its supply chain capacity and expanded its Curbside and Home Delivery services to more than 260 stores in the state.
This new facility marks the fifth e-commerce fulfillment center the company has opened since 2018. H-E-B looks to open additional facilities across the state by the end of next year, including in Plano, TX, to help support the retailer’s expansion into the DFW Metroplex.
