IDDBA Offers a Glimpse into What's in Store 2019

You can only start trending if you know what products out there are catching consumers’ attention! The International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) has been helping the specialty food industry keep a finger on the pulse of shoppers’ likes and dislikes for 33 years now, and its latest What’s in Store 2019 does not disappoint.

A few examples of the Top Food and Culinary Trends included:

  • Nutrient-dense treats, such as fortified ice creams, vegetable desserts, mood-enhancing ingredients, protein-packed chips, and fresh product snacks
  • Botanical flavors like ginger, honey, hibiscus, lavender, elderflower, mint, cardamom, and chamomile
  • Alternative options to standard products and ingredients, like lab-cultured burgers, non-dairy “milks,” cricket flour, and ancient grains

IDDBA examines the dairy, deli, and bakery industries to craft What’s in Store

Some of the most influential trends throughout the industry included:

  • In-store experience beyond traditional grocery shopping, i.e. sampling, education, mobile/smartphone integration, individualization, and more.
  • Omnichannel: e-commerce is the new retail.
  • “Better-for-you” movement continues to grow with functional ingredients sought for healing or better living as well as labels that taught benefits and history. We’re in the age of conscious consumers.
  • Robots are everywhere from providing inventory of shelves to making cake ordering a piece of cake.

IDDBA examines the dairy, deli, and bakery industries to craft What’s in Store for convenience with valuable information and consumer insights.”
