Snacking is an enjoyable part of every consumer’s life, and they are constantly looking for tasty new ways to have a guilt-free snack. LesserEvil is furthering its mission of bringing healthy, organic, and sustainable snacks to consumers everywhere with the release of two new plant-based products. The better-for-you snack brand has debuted its new Sun Poppers, made from upcycled watermelon and pumpkin seeds, and entered a new category with the launch of PeaNOTS, made from organic pea protein.
“Consumers are continuing to look to brands for healthy and sustainable snack options, so we decided to think outside the box and source earth-friendly ingredients—like upcycled watermelon and pumpkin seeds and water-efficient peas–to create a crunchy, savory snack that’s good for consumers and the planet,” said LesserEvil President and Chief Executive Officer, Charles Coristine. “We have always valued using clean ingredients, and now we are taking our sustainability to the next level—protein-packed and sun-powered.”
Sun Poppers are a savory snack made with upcycled watermelon and pumpkin seeds, and provide 3g of sun-powered, plant-based protein per serving, according to a press release. PeaNOTS, on the other hand, are made with organic peas and provide 9–10g of easily digestible, clean protein per serving. Peas are a water-efficient crop that requires seven times less water per gram of protein than regular nuts, backing the company’s move to make snacking more sustainable and revolutionize the nut sector.
LesserEvil’s Sun Poppers are currently available for purchase at ThriveMarket, Whole Foods Market, and online for $3.99, and are available in Himalayan Pink Salt and Sour Cream + Onion varieties. The snack brand’s PeaNOTS are now available exclusively on Thrive Market in two classic flavors—Himalayan Pink Salt and Vegan Ranch—with more retail locations coming early next year.
The new products are also being showcased during the Natural Products Expo East in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from September 22–25, 2021 at Booth #4283.
The demand for better-for-you snack products is only continuing to grow, and these innovative offerings are a unique and flavorful way to capitalize on the sector’s growth.
