The specialty sector is gearing up for a unique and exciting event, as the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium recently teamed up with Urbani Truffles to launch the highly anticipated Black Truffle Festival 2021, which kicked off on June 26 and will run until July 4. During the festival, participating restaurants in New York, Miami, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles are highlighting exclusive dishes featuring both Black Summer Truffles and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
The Black Truffle Festival, which is now in its fourth year, will highlight some of Italy’s most coveted culinary products, including Urbani’s Black Truffles, Summer & Australian—a variety of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, including 18- and 24- months maturations—and fine wines from Franciacorta, Valpolicella Classico, and Chianti Classico regions, according to a company release. Throughout the week-long event, food and wine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to taste exclusive festival menus at some of the nation’s most esteemed restaurants.
Amongst the delicious dishes that attendees will try, Chef Michele Casadei Massari, U.S. brand ambassador for Parmigiano Reggiano, has developed an official Festival recipe for Black Truffle Pasta, which is uniquely paired with a Chianti Classico Riserva by Lamole di Lamole. The mouthwatering recipe blends the rich and earthy flavor or Black Summer Truffles with the nutty notes of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, creating a simple, indulgent dish.
To uplift foodservice operators during a time of challenge, the Black Truffle Festival sponsors will donate funds to the Restaurant Workers Community Foundation, which utilizes the money to aid restaurant workers negatively impacted by the pandemic.
