Quick! List all of your favorite salsa ingredients! Wait, you don’t put pickles in your salsa? Blasphemy! Luckily—for all of us old school salsa makers—PickleSmash is here to introduce a real gamechanger: a first-of-its-kind salsa made from pickles(!!). But in order to introduce this innovative item to the masses, the brand is launching a Kickstarter to ramp up its production and hit store shelves within the likes of H-E-B, Kroger, and Whole Foods Market.
"We decided Kickstarter was the best way to let as many people know about PickleSmash as quickly as possible. The funds we raise will allow us to go into commercial production and start selling PickleSmash to an even larger audience,” said Brian White, Co-Founder and CEO of PickleSmash.
Brian and Liz White first started PickleSmash when Brian’s love for cooking led him to mix pickles with onions, jalapeños, and spices, thus creating what is known and revered today as pickle salsa. The lineup now includes three flavors (mild, medium, and hot)—each boasting only 5 calories per serving (only 80 calories in the entire jar!), zero fat, and zero carbs, making it the perfect dressing, relish, marinade, and more. Since its inception, the brand has gone on to nab accolades at the 2018 and 2019 Texas State Fair and 1st place in the 2019 Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival.
Now, the Whites are hoping to introduce their unique specialty foods item to more consumers and retailers via the Kickstarter campaign. According to a press release, the goal for the campaign is $10,000, which will allow Brian and Liz to purchase inventory to sell online and bring their product lineup to retailers.
