Cheers to 25 years! Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. is celebrating a pivotal milestone as the cheesemaker eclipses its 25th anniversary this year.
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating 25 years as a family-run, women-owned company rooted in craftsmanship and community,” Leigh Gardner-Gmeiner, Marketing and Communications, said. “The anniversary celebration will continue throughout 2025 with a calendar of special tastings and events at The Fork, our culinary and educational center. Visitors can look forward to festive farm-to-table dinners, brunches, and immersive experiences that highlight our award-winning cheeses and deep connection to the land. It’s a chance for us to thank our customers and partners, reflect on how far we’ve come, and share a look at what’s ahead. Our anniversary is not just about looking back—it’s about continuing to innovate and inspire in the world of American artisan cheese.”
Point Reyes has witnessed several eras of industry evolution over the last quarter of a century. In 2000, the company transformed its family business from a traditional fluid milk dairy to an artisan creamery focused on cheesemaking with the launch of California’s first classic-style blue cheese: Original Blue. Today, the beloved Point Reyes lineup also includes Bay Blue, Fennel Blue, Toma, TomaRashi, TomaTruffle, TomaProvence, Gouda, Truffle Brie, and Quinta.
The company’s growth also includes the expansion into a second creamery, allowing Point Reyes to meet growing demand while staying true to its sustainable farming roots.
“Our values—integrity, transparency, innovation, and community—remain unchanged, guiding every decision we make,” Leigh added. “We’re constantly evolving to meet the needs of today’s retailers, chefs, and consumers, but always with a focus on quality and authenticity.”
As the distinguished cheesemaker accelerates into year 25 and beyond, international growth remains a key area of focus.
“Currently exporting to Canada, Mexico, Dubai, Panama, and several countries in Asia, we are continuing to focus on building new markets for our California-made artisan cheese. This expansion has been driven by strong relationships with export partners who share our commitment to excellence and sustainability,” Leigh explained. “We've tailored our approach to meet the needs of each region, offering product education, promotional support, and brand storytelling that resonates globally. As awareness of American artisan cheese grows, we’re excited to continue building on this momentum.”
