Real California Cheeses Take Home 29 Awards at American Cheese Society Competition

Let’s hear it for California cheesemakers! These industry leaders were recently recognized for their prowess in the cheese space, earning several impressive awards. Cow’s milk cheese and dairy processors that use the Real California Milk seal brought home 29 awards from the American Cheese Society (ACS) Conference this year.

California cheesemakers won a total of 45 awards—with Real California cow’s milk cheeses bringing home 29 prizes. These include eight first-place awards, 12 second-place awards, and nine third-place awards.

A few highlights from these wins include:

• Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. – first place each for Point Reyes California Coastal Blue and TomaProvence; second place for Original Blue and Aged Gouda
• Marin French Cheese Company – first place for Petite Jalapeño
• Cowgirl Creamery – second place for Wagon Wheel
• Sach Foods – second place for Spicy Habanero Paneer and third place for Turmeric Twist Paneer

In total, 15 Real California cow’s milk cheese and dairy companies won awards for products made with 100 percent Real California milk, according to a press release. California is the second-largest cheese producing state in the nation, responsible for more than 2.4 billion pounds of cheese in 2021.
